# Sending a Document for E-Signature in Connekt E-Sign

> Upload a PDF to Connekt, place fields, add signers, and send for e-signature — then track signing progress and download the final signed copy.

Connekt's built-in e-signing lets you collect signatures from candidates, clients, or internal team members without leaving the platform. Whether it's an offer letter, a contract, or an NDA, you can upload the document, place signing fields, and dispatch it to everyone who needs to sign — all in a few steps.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Upload your PDF">
    Go to **Documents** in the main navigation and click **Upload**. Select the PDF from your computer.

    <Note>
      Only PDF files are supported for e-signing. If your document is in another format, convert it to PDF before uploading.
    </Note>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name the document">
    Give the document a clear, descriptive name so you and your team can identify it at a glance — for example, **"Offer Letter – Jane Smith"** or **"PSA – Acme Corp 2025"**. This name appears in the Documents list and in the email sent to signers.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Place fields on the PDF">
    Click **Edit Fields** to open the PDF field editor. Drag signature, name, text, and date fields onto the pages where signers need to fill them in. Assign each field to the correct signer before closing the editor.

    See [Adding Fields to a PDF](/documents/adding-fields-to-pdf) for a detailed walkthrough of the field editor.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add signers">
    Under the **Signers** section, add everyone who needs to sign the document:

    * **Internal signers** — select a team member from the user dropdown.
    * **External signers** — type the person's name and email address manually. No Connekt account is required.

    You can mix internal and external signers on the same document. The order you add them determines the signing sequence — Connekt automatically notifies the next signer once the previous one completes their part.

    <Tip>
      If a candidate must sign before the hiring manager countersigns, simply add the candidate first in the Signers list.
    </Tip>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Finalise and send">
    Click **Finalize & Send**. Each signer immediately receives an email containing a unique, secure signing link. External signers can sign directly in their browser — no account needed.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Tracking signing progress

After sending, open the document's detail page to see a real-time view of who has signed and who is still pending. You can resend the signing link to any signer who hasn't acted yet — click **Resend** next to their name in the signers list.

<Warning>
  Make sure you send the link to the correct email address for that signer.
</Warning>

## Downloading the completed document

Once every signer has completed the document, its status changes to **Completed**. From the document detail page you can download:

* **The final signed PDF** — a copy of the document with all signatures applied.
* **The certificate of completion** — an audit trail confirming who signed and when.

<Info>
  Documents that have been fully signed cannot be edited or resent. If corrections are needed, duplicate the document and start a fresh signing request.
