# Submitting a Candidate to a Job Opening in Connekt

> Learn how to submit a candidate to a job from either the job record or the candidate profile, and what Connekt does automatically after submission.

Submitting a candidate links them to a specific job opening and kicks off the recruitment pipeline for that pairing. You can start the process from either the job record or the candidate's profile — both routes create the same submission record.

## From a Job Record

Use this approach when you already have the job open and want to add one or more candidates to it.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the job">
    Navigate to the job you want to submit the candidate to.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Go to the Submissions tab">
    Click the **Submissions** tab on the job record.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Submit Candidate">
    Click the **Submit Candidate** button to open the submission dialog.
  </Step>

  </Step>

  <Step title="Submit">
    Click **Submit** to create the submission record.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## From a Candidate Profile

Use this approach when you're reviewing a candidate and want to put them forward for a specific role.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the candidate profile">
    Navigate to the candidate you want to submit.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Go to the Jobs or Submissions tab">
    Click the **Jobs** or **Submissions** tab on the candidate profile.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Submit to Job">
    Click **Submit to Job** to open the submission dialog.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Find the job">
    Search for and select the job you want to submit them to.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add notes and submit">
    Add any relevant notes, then click **Submit**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What Happens Next

After you submit, Connekt automatically takes care of a few things:

* A **Submission record** is created that links the candidate to the job.
* The submission's initial status is set to **Submitted**.
* The submission appears in the job's pipeline view so your team can track progress.
* Any notes you added at submission time are recorded in the submission's activity log.

<Warning>
  Connekt doesn't currently block or warn you if you submit the same candidate to the same job more than once. Before submitting, check the candidate's existing submissions on that job to avoid creating duplicates.
