# Connekt User Roles Explained: All 10 Roles at a Glance

> Explore all 10 Connekt user roles, understand what each role can access, and learn how to set or change a role at invite or any time afterwards.

Connekt uses role-based access control to make sure every team member sees and can do exactly what they need — no more, no less. Each user is assigned one role, and that role determines their access across the entire platform. Choosing the right role from the start saves you having to unpick permissions later, so it's worth understanding what each one covers.

| **Manager** | Team management, leave approvals, and full recruitment CRM access. |
| **Principal Consultant** | Senior CRM access, typically with broader visibility settings across the team's pipeline. |
| **Senior Consultant** | Core CRM access — can view, create, and edit placements, candidates, and jobs. |
| **Consultant** | Core CRM access scoped to their own placements and candidates. |
| **Recruiter** | Core CRM access focused on sourcing and submissions. |
| **Researcher** | Research-focused access — candidate sourcing with limited placement rights. Job visibility is limited to roles they are explicitly assigned to. |
| **User** | Basic, largely read-only access across the CRM. |

<Note>
  The **Researcher** role has a specific behaviour worth remembering: Researchers can only see jobs they have been assigned to. Use job assignments to control which roles a Researcher can work on — see [Assigning Team Members to Jobs](/jobs/assigning-team-members) for details.

<Tip>
  If the default permissions for a role don't quite match how your team operates, you can fine-tune them in **Settings → Permissions**. See [Customising Role Permissions](/team/customising-permissions) for a full walkthrough.
