When to Use Bulk Import
System Migration
Moving your existing candidate, company, or contact database from another ATS or CRM into Connekt.
Large Batch Adds
Adding hundreds or thousands of records you’ve collected outside Connekt — job board exports, spreadsheet lists, or partner data feeds.
Supported Record Types
You can bulk import any of the following entity types in a single run:- Candidates
- Companies
- Contacts
- Jobs
- Users
Bulk import requires admin access. If you don’t see Settings → Data Import, ask your workspace admin to run the import on your behalf.
Running a Bulk Import
1
Open the import wizard
Go to Settings → Data Import. You can also access the import step during initial workspace setup if you’re onboarding a new Connekt workspace.
2
Choose the record type
Select which type of record you’re importing — Candidates, Companies, Contacts, Jobs, or Users. Each type has its own field mapping.
3
Upload your CSV (and optional ZIP of attachments)
Upload your CSV file. If you’re importing candidates and want to attach resumes or documents, bundle them into a ZIP file and upload that alongside your CSV. Connekt matches attachments to the correct rows using the filename — make sure the filename in your ZIP matches the value in the relevant column of your CSV.
4
Map your columns to Connekt fields
The wizard displays your spreadsheet’s column headers alongside Connekt’s available fields. Drag or select each column to map it to the correct field. Unmapped columns are ignored.
5
Start the import and monitor progress
Click Start Import. You can watch the progress bar and see a count of records created, skipped, or errored. Errors are listed so you can fix them and re-import just the problem rows.
Searchability After Import
Newly imported records are indexed in the background. Candidates, companies, and contacts become fully searchable in Connekt shortly after the import completes — you don’t need to do anything extra to trigger indexing.
Tips for a Smooth Import
Preparing your CSV file
Preparing your CSV file
- Use a header row with consistent, descriptive column names — this makes mapping much easier.
- Remove any special characters or formatting from cells (merged cells, formulas, emoji) before exporting to CSV.
- For phone numbers, use a consistent format such as international E.164 (
+14155550123) to avoid mismatches. - If you’re importing candidates, include an email address wherever possible — it helps Connekt detect potential duplicates before they’re created.
Matching attachments with ZIP upload
Matching attachments with ZIP upload
- Name each file in your ZIP to match a value in your CSV (for example, a candidate’s full name or an ID you’ve assigned).
- Make sure the CSV column that contains the filename is mapped to the attachment field during column mapping.
- ZIP upload is optional — you can always add attachments to individual records after the import.
Handling import errors
Handling import errors
- After the import runs, download the error report to see exactly which rows failed and why.
- Fix the flagged rows in your original spreadsheet, export a corrected CSV containing only those rows, and run a second import.
- You won’t create duplicates of successfully imported rows as long as you only re-import the failed ones.
