Before you can send a document for signature, you need to tell Connekt exactly where each person should sign, print their name, enter text, or add a date. The field editor lets you drag fields onto any page of the PDF so signers see clear, unambiguous instructions when they open their signing link.

Opening the field editor

With your document open, click Edit Fields. The PDF renders in the field editor with a drag-and-drop field palette displayed on the side. You can work across all pages of the document without leaving the editor.

Available field types

Connekt supports four field types that cover the most common signing needs.

Signature

Captures a drawn or typed signature from the signer. Use this for the actual signing line on contracts and agreements.

Name

Captures the signer’s printed (full) name as a text value. Useful when you need a printed name alongside a signature.

Text

A free-form text input the signer can fill with any content — address details, job titles, employee numbers, and so on.

Date

A date value tied to the act of signing. Connekt can auto-populate this with the signing date, or the signer can enter a specific date.

Placing and assigning fields

1

Drag a field onto the page

Select a field type from the palette and drag it onto the exact location on the PDF page where it needs to appear. Resize or reposition it as needed.
2

Assign the field to a signer

After placing a field, use the signer dropdown on the field itself to assign it to the correct signer. Each signer is displayed in a distinct colour throughout the editor, so you can tell at a glance which fields belong to whom.
3

Repeat for all required fields

Work through every page of the document, placing and assigning all required fields for each signer. You don’t need to save between pages — fields save automatically as you work.
Fields save automatically as you place and assign them. There is no manual save button in the field editor — your changes are preserved even if you close and reopen the editor.

Requirements before finalising

Before the Finalize & Send button becomes active, two conditions must be met:
  1. At least one signer has been added to the document.
  2. At least one field has been placed on the PDF and assigned to a signer.
Unassigned fields — fields placed on the PDF but not linked to a signer — will block sending. Make sure every field has a signer assigned before you attempt to finalise the document.
Do a final colour-check before sending: scan through the pages and confirm that each field’s colour matches the intended signer. It’s much easier to fix an assignment here than to cancel and restart after sending.
