Connekt uses role-based access control to make sure every team member sees and can do exactly what they need — no more, no less. Each user is assigned one role, and that role determines their access across the entire platform. Choosing the right role from the start saves you having to unpick permissions later, so it’s worth understanding what each one covers.

Role reference

The Researcher role has a specific behaviour worth remembering: Researchers can only see jobs they have been assigned to. Use job assignments to control which roles a Researcher can work on — see Assigning Team Members to Jobs for details.

Setting or changing a role

At the point of invitation

When you invite a new team member, select their role on the invite screen before sending the invitation. They’ll have that role as soon as they accept and log in for the first time.

After the invitation has been sent

1

Open Manage Users

Go to Settings → Manage Users.
2

Find the user

Search for the team member by name or scroll through the list.
3

Update the role

Click the role dropdown next to their name and select the new role.
Role changes take effect immediately. The user does not need to log out and log back in — their permissions update in real time.
If the default permissions for a role don’t quite match how your team operates, you can fine-tune them in Settings → Permissions. See Customising Role Permissions for a full walkthrough.
